As a VERY casual fan, this is one guy that would draw someone like me into the sport. He's proportioned like a cartoon that can kill real people.

Awesome but they're kinda feeding Brock to the wolves after his long layoff... should be interesting anyway

It isn't a horrible style for Brock though. Ya, Overeem is a beast standing and Brock historically hasn't handled being hit too well. However Overeem isn't super fast/quick anymore due to increased mass. Brock could take him down and pound on him. I'd bet Overeem's BJJ isn't super anymore b/c of loss of flexibility too. Although I'm sure he'd have to problem pulling off a submission if the opportunity was there.

i wouldn't count on the sub. he man handled Mir who has far better BJJ then Overeem.

though it should be a good fight. IF brock is healthy and gained back his mass Overeem won't be the bigger guy.

This could go either way. Brocks wrestling is far far better then overeems but overeem hits far harder.

i give it to overeem just because brocks health is suspect.

thats stupid. Brock has never had a easy fight. this is no diffrent from the rest he has had.

Stoked about this fight, say what you want about Brock, but he dodges nobody!

Also, they signed Ben Henderson vs Clay Guida for the Fox show as well. Not sure how that is going to work sense they are only guaranteeing the title fight is shown. I know they can show it on facebook, but I think that is a fight that they would want more people to see. I'm wondering why they just don't start the fox show an hour earlier or something. I know they don't want to compete with the Pacquio fight, but why not start it early?

Epic fight - The Reem will destroy his will with leg kicks and then finish him.

Brock is not a fighter - he does not like to be hit.

If somehow we had a time machine and could get pre-diverticulitis Brock against Reem, I’d say he takes it via TKO. As it stands now, I honestly don’t think Brock has been 100% since his initial diagnosis, nor do I think he’ll ever get back to his former self, so it’s a pick’em. The deciding factor being if and how often and hard Reem can connect as Brock goes for the takedown.

If I were him I wouldn’t be fighting. He has a potentially fatal disease that’s exacerbated by the stresses placed on his body during training. It makes for a fantastic story and it’s endlessly intriguing, but this isn’t a movie. He could die if he keeps fucking with his health by fighting.

I’m curious to see the line. I would expect Reem to be favored, but I’m curious by how much. With the exception of Werdum, he’s never beaten anyone worth 2 shits at HW.

For the record I wouldn’t touch this fight even with Woosta’s money. Too close to call IMO.

I wouldnt bet anything on this fight. Who knows what brocks health/size are going to be. He very well may just bulldoze the reem and gnp him out in 30 seconds. Or the reem my knock him into the nosebleeds of the arena.

Nice match for the two steroid whores. Feed the winner to be crushed by Cain.

So, was the whole cleaning out of all of the Golden Glory fighters in Strikeforce just a ploy to get Alistair in the UFC? Doesn't make sense...

Who knows, there are people out there that think Strikeforce will be gone by next year.

Yeah, I think that was the case. I'm honestly surprised Showtime hasn't thrown up the bullshit flag and sued the UFC. I think they wanted him to fight UFC, but couldnt because of showtime, so they use the contract thing as a reason to fire him from strikeforce and resign him to the ufc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad hes in the UFC, but just surprised at the way it went down.

You say it's stupid but then you agree that Overeem will probably win due to Brock's health...

It's also a little different having a hard fight and having a hard fight coming off over a year off and major surgery. I'm not saying give him Mir again but maybe something to knock the rust off but still a challenge.

lol, Overeem will smash Cain.

I think Overeem, JDS, and Cain all matchup well against each other. I think it's hard to say that one would smash the other until we see what happens when they fight....which is exactly what we get to see. I'm pretty stoked, we are finally getting to see the matchups we want to see. Hell, Lesnar may even come out stronger than ever if he really is 100%.

I had to google Overeem ....

http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Alistair-Overeem-461

sadly, lesnar is done...his last fight was rough, very rough.
This.

I've seen most of his fights, and whenever he gets hit squarely you can see the fear in his eyes. It was pure luck that he lasted as long as he did before the last beating he took. It was very obvious to everybody (I hope) that he is highly overrated as an MMA fighter and just winning due to his size.

You can say he was a great college wrestler but most of his wins are from him landing the canned hams on opponents faces. (He does move quickly for such a big guy, I'll give him that.)
