i have an ATI x800 pro card and it has an overdrive option in the advanced properties. if enabled, how much more performance will i get and will it damage the card at all, how safe is it to use?

thanks..

What driver are you using? I have an X800 Pro also using the Catalyst 4.12 beta and don't recall seeing that option.

i cant use the new ones though. i would like to but i cant..

Um, since you gave specific model or brand information you probably aren't going to be able to get much help...

What manufacturer and card model are you using and why can't you use the Catalyst drivers?

i have a powercolor x800pro. and my computer is an AMD xp3000 chip with 200fsb, corsair LL pc3200 512mb, asus A7N8x delux board, um an ide 80 gig WD hard drive.
but when i go to download the new drivers and install them it messus up my 1600x1200 resolution that i have set in windows and as well as in games. for some reason when i try and run my games at that res with the new drivers, my screen wont resize to fit. but will at lower resolutions. im not sure why it dose that but it dose. so thats why i keep the old drivers from the cd installed on the computer right now..

could it be my monitor. its an older dell screen. its a 21" as well.. and i have the refresh rate at 70 right now. and windows res set for 1600x1200.

the overdrive feature was part of the feature set for x800 based cards if I recall. I believe that it would safely overclock like 1-5% during gaming. For whatever reason they nixed it off of future driver sets. you might try googling it.

but your not sure what may be going on? because i want to install the new drivers but it messes up my 1600x1200 res in games and windows.. it sucks..
