Overcome a fear...

I'm terrified of anything that flies and stings. I can't even cut the grass anymore that I'm so scared of wasps, hornets, and bees. What would you suggest? I had a terrible accident with my brother and them. I was caddying him when he was golfing and he hit a ball and it flew into the tree and knocked something out of it. Being 11 years old carrying that curiosity with my brother's golf bag, I trotted on up the hill to see what the fallen object was. Seeing that it only took a second to see wasps fluttering about their fallen empire, I began to run with 3 wasps pursuing me, I took multiple stings to my arms and chest. I looked a lot like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy running around screaming "BEE'S!" according to my brother and fellow golfers. I left with aching arms and chest and a fear that I have yet to overcome. Well now that it's starting to effect me, I have to overcome it. What would you do?

If you are not allergic to them, be a man and go outside.

The stings are temporary pain, I wouldn't let that deter me from having fun outside.

They won't bother you if you don't bother them. In your story the wasps were a little bothered.

Wouldn't you be upset if someone tore down your house?

It really sounds like you are well along in developing an honest phobia. You need to nip it in the bud before you develop full blown Agoraphobia (fear of big open spaces/fear of going outside)

I know how you feel; I am allergic to bee stings as well. I have to carry a bee sting kit in my truck. It has epinephrine pills AND a syringe. Yikes!:Q But, I am not afraid to be around the bugs. I do all that I can to stay away from them, but you just have to suck it up, be a big man and deal with it. You will be OK. :)

Word of advice:
When you see a big house-looking thing sitting in someones' yard and it has "ROVER" painted over the door, try not to knock that down too, hmm? ;)

Thanks, guess you're right, luckily I'm not allergic, should be thankful for that.
