Hey
I've a Duron 800Mhz and Mb Asus A7V133, and i want to do oc....
i already have a very strong cooling in my copmuter, what is the most i can do by changing the bus, Multiplier, Supply Voltage ???
and one more question related to the subject, which programs are the best in now days for testing and checking if the oc was failure or not.... :)
i know that in the past Winstone or the BAPCo Suite were very good...
THX alot

First of all, you need to unlock the L1 bridges so you can increase the multiplier. You need to close them with a pencil or a defogger kit, or conductive pen. Check out the article below.

how to unlock

I've heard that Prime95 is a good test of stability.

A Duron chip will reach 1GHz with about 1.85-2.00 volts to the core. From this point on things get interesting, because their need for voltage exponentially increases with speed. My system runs stable @2.20 volts while running @1.08GHz. If I go with higher multipliers than 10x my system becomes unstable even if I send 2.35 volts to the core. :| I use Sandra to check the memory speed and AGP, PCI frequencies among other things. For stability I use Prime 95 Torture and CPU Hot Tester. If my system can handle it overnight without one error it's 100% stable for me.

Hummm...? Whats the point of changing the multiplier when you can use the advantage of a KT133A chipset...? Its spec`d for 133fsb so use it... I have a Duron 700 that runs 7X143fsb or 1Ghz and all my testing shows that this is far better for shear performance than any other combination to make 1Ghz... Its not that far out of specs for the other cards in the system and most PC133 ram will do 143mhz... So... why unlock it...? BTW this chip will run 1Ghz at 1.80 and stay nice and cool... ;)

Take if from a former Intel thrasher... jack the fsb up to the max and watch it fly... :D

Prime95 seems to be the best just be sure to run it for 12 hours no less... If you have problems with games its not your cpu... (video card or drivers most of the time...)
