So here is the current spec (Stock)
Intel 2.4c 533fsb, Abit IS7, Corsair pc3200 512x2 dual channel

I cranked up the cpu fsb from 133 to 161 with NB Strap manually set at PSB667 (i think it was psb). This has been runnign stable...gives me 2.9 or 2.92 Ghz spped. the ratio is 1:1.

Now when i change the ratio to 5:4 (thats the only other option, besides By SPD)....I still cant get any more overcloking from it. Something's weird...i thought if I change the cpu/ram ratio, i would be abel to overclock. im getting a new cpu soon, but just wanna see how far i can crank this up? any ideas for improvement...

btw, im running the cpu on a zalman 7000cu.

i have no idea wat u r talking about. but u should consider that your ram, cpu, and mobo can be the limiter in terms of overclocking...
go around look wat results other people have gotten w/ ur particular components... also it could be ur PSU as well...

if ur getting a new cpu soon, just set it at 4ghz and when it lights on fire, that would be a good time to get another cpu.

Nice advice........ <notes your sig> :|

_______

Most likely you are hitting the CPU wall. Is yours a northwood? If so thats probably why. Try raising the CPU vcore slightly into the upper 1.5v range. So long as your temps are ok, you should be fine. (temps below 55C* on load)

why is it so hard?
i wanna overclock it more than 2.9hz...but i cant increase the fsb more cus the divider doesnt do anything for me. asking ppl why is that?
of course the ram, mobo are the limiter. But i know some ppl have cranked it up to 3.2.

And NO..i dont wanna burn it and waste my money down the drain
