Overclocking X800 Problem

Hello again
i'm putting this up here in case someone is too lazy to read the entire thread, but does anyone know if i would be able to place a Dell 8200 motherboard inside a non-dell case. I've heard they are stripped down asus boards and mine looks a tiny bit smaller then normal ATX but that may just be me.
Thanks

[Edit Original problem solved thanks to Ricemarine]
Hello,
I'm having a problem with my video card that i'm trying to OC (i need to squeeze as much life out of it as i can until i get my new computer 😛) i'm using ATi Tools to overclock it and it has a built in overclocker. I'll use it to find the max gpu clock first without artifacts and it got to about 533 so i dropped it down a bit to 525 just to be safe. at this point it was at a stable 78 C. I started the memory overclock testing an it was going fine until about 565ish. it just finished scanning for artifacts and then increased the clock speed. all of a sudden my monitor suddenly turns off (as in there is no feed, not that the thing actually turns off...), but its just the monitor, the rest of the computer is still running at full tilt. Could this be a power problem since the card has its own plug dedicated to it from the PSU? or is this the limit of the card and its just shutting down to prevent any damage?
Thanks in advance.

edit: extra info if needed.
Dell (I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me... I must have been drunk or something...)

PSU -i'll find out when i get home today
P4 2.4 stock dell cooler
GPU frozen at 79 C and Env temp (according to GPU) 60ish C (i'll check the log when i get home for a better)

Your x800xt overheated.

78 is too extreme for ati cards.

What you can try doing... is get ati tray tools, go to overclock settings, fan, and then choosing auto-fill and save to profile. Create a profile, save it, and your done.

okee well that was a fast reply, in fact it was before i finished the edit 😛 thanks, i guess i'm getting a zalman.

heh...
I suggest using ati tray tools first.

Yep, that's what i'm using, the Omega Drivers and the accompanying ATi Tray Tools, i guess i got the name wrong :/.
Related question: is the VF700-Cu really any better then the VF700-AlCu or is it just greed in getting more money from consumers?

Um... its better than the AlCu temp wise by a bit...

I'd get an ati silencer though 😀

that is the copper and mixed one right? it's really doesnt change only by a a few. the mix one cost less and weights less.

Just reading a few previous posts about coolers for ati cards and I found one where most of the people were saying that a temp of 80c was quite alot for an X800XL. should I be worried that my XT stock under load i think it was about 65-70, or is that just sapphire's cooling or something like that? *quickly looks around for warranty papers*

Bump for last post and new information: i was wrong, when i said 65-70, its a lot worse. I just ran the built-in 3d renderer of ATi tray tools for about 25 minutes until the temperature seemed stabilized at the stock speeds (500/500) and the number scares me: 78 c. Now I know this is way too hot for stock speeds under full load so I'm guessing my dell p.o.s. doesn't have enough airflow. Has anyone found a place to add another fan on an 8200. If not can i transfer all my parts (mobo and all) to a non-dell case?

No you cannot mount a DELL mobo in a non dell case without drilling custom holes and installing mobo standoffs (DELL mobos do not have standard holes for mounting)

I recently took the CPU, ram, and HD out of my DELL 4700 and put them in an ABIT mobo and a p180 case and Coolermaster PSU. WAY WAY BETTER

DELLS SUCK FOR VIDEO CARD COOLING

Now my X800XL temps are alot better

Ah, thank you so much grimly 🙂 that's just what i needed to hear.
*toddles off to newegg to get my P180 finally*

You do understand that you are basically buying a whole knew computer except for CPU, RAM, and Hard drive right? You also need to be EXTRA careful about buying a mobo- you need to get it to match your RAM type (ddr, ddr2), CPU socket size, and pci/pcie slots.

Since you have a DELL I'm assuming you have a Pentium system, so check out Abit. They have some great P4 boards.

Good luck to yah

 DELL

Yea, i understand, i'm not planning on exactly buying a new mobo just because i'm a cheap arse, but i plan on getting the P180 for my new computer that i'll buy later this year once Gigabyte/Abit/anyone except asrock comes out with a ULi motherboard, so i might as well start using its benifits now 🙂.
