Just picked up this combo and have it up and running at 2.13 at stock voltage and memory. Question is what are some the overclocking results you are getting higher than 2.13 and what settings are you using? I have 512 DDR OEM memory I picked up at Fry's. Don't know who the manufacturer is but looks like a Mitsubishi symbol on the chips and there is a sticker with a globe on the chip. My power supply is 300watts from a Soyo labeled case. Thanks for the help.

I had just set up my new computer over the weekend using the 1.6a and GA-8SRX.
P4 1.6a Costa Rica 03/26/02 3208A513.

I boot it at 2.3 and use the East Tuner 3 to run it at 2.4 with 150fsb and 187mem 2.5-3-3-6 vcore@1.65v Vdimm@+.2v and AGP@.1v in Win2k. ET3 works perfectly. My 1.6a could do 2.5@1.65v but my memory couldn't handle 193mhz. The memory is Samsung pc2700 on 3rd pcb (SVC). I've tried loosening the timing to 2.5-4-4-7 but still no go. I could run at 2.63@1.7v but I don't want to run it at 1.7v with the stock HSF. No problem with the board so far. This is quite a steal at $75.

I think I'll try and get up to 2.4 tonight. Do I need to up my memory speed also to match the cpu? On a side note, in the 8SRX bios when I have the settings at 2.13 and try to look up the PC Health option, it would freeze but at 1.6 it works fine. Any ideas as to why this happens?

You don't have too but more memory bandwidth is always better. I would say you should up teh vcore to 1.65v, a fairly conservative over volting, and up the fsb one by one using the easy tuner 3. Use the auto optimization button, it will automatically up the fsb 1 by 1 in windows. Let it run until the chip goes to its limit and reboot. Then restart window and go to advanced in ET3, put the fsb a tad lower than what it reboot at and run a few benchmark/stresser to test for stability.

I would suggest you test the max overclock of your cpu with a very low memory setting just to make sure the memory isn't the limiting factor.

I dont' know why it wouldn't let you go to pc health. Buy maybe upping teh vcore would help.

are you sure PC2700 cant handle that? i think that samsung memory can handle alot more than that bro.

I'm using Samsung memory on 3rd party PCB. Most of the very good overclockign rams are on Samsung PCB. The only place that sells Samsung on Samsung 512mb is Newegg which costed $30 more than this memory. I didn't think that the extra mhz is worth the extra $30. I've tested extensively 189 is the absolute MAX it will run stabily even at the slowest speed (2-4-4-7). BTW th is is all at +.2v vdimm. I might try +.3v today jsut to see if it could break 193.
