I wanted to see if anyone is using this as their cooling solution with the OCing. My idle temps are in the low 40's and I think its supposed to be better than that. I want to OC my e4400 higher but am concerned by the temps I'm getting and am not sure if its the mobo sensors or not.

The AC Freezer 7 Pro is a cheap heatsink, that cools well. It doesn't, however, compare to the best heatsinks available; it's just considerably better than the stock heatsink, and is quieter, also.

I'm about to modify my AC Freezer 7 with a 120mm Yate Loon = D

I'm not EXACTLY sure how i'm going to do this..but it's probably gonna be pretty awesome.

I've got a Panaflo 92mm ultra high speed fan that goes up to 3450 rpms. Wonder if I can remove the fan from AC and stick that one on instead.

I'm using the Freezer 7 on a e6750 overclocked to 3.6GHz & have idle core temps of 40C & a cpu case temp of 30C, so yes your temps look a bit on the high side for stock. I use speedfan & coretemp for reading temps. Did you use the pre-applied paste on the heatsink? I wiped it off & used AS5.

Edit: The fan on this hsf is plenty good enough. Mine only needs to operate at 600rpm at idle & 1900rpm under load. Set it at 100% and see if that helps.

What board do you have & what voltage is getting delivered to the cpu?

Do you also have sufficient case ventilation?

Speedfan says 28 degrees for my cpu on idle. Coretemp and TAT say 44-45. Speedfan measure temps at the socket while the other do so on the die which is supposed to be more accurate. I left the grease on since it is supposed to be as good as AS5 according to most posts I've found. For case ventilation, I have 2 120mm fans running so air circulation is not a problem.

It's probably MX-1 on the hsf which is OK but is not as effective as AS5. Someone has been telling you BS. I noticed that the layer of pre-applied paste was very thick which wont help conductivity. If you want to OC, I recommend reseating the hsf with AS5.

Core temp (tjunction) and cpu temp (tcase) are both accurate. They are totally different readings due to different sensor positions within the cpu. Core temp is more significant since it has a specified maximum, called tjunction max, which is either 85C or 100C depending on the cpu revision. 44-45 idle temp is high for stock settings but then you know that or you wouldn't be posting.

My e6600 currently settles at 3.4ghz but it once did register @ 3.6g and passed Orthos 16 hrs w/o error.
This is all done with ACF7 pro hsf.
EDIT: low 30c idle and low to mid 40c load (Orthos)

Videopho, what utility did you use to measure temps? If I use Speedfan, I get idles of around 28 and load of about mid 50s. I suspect the sensors on my mobo are off because I'm having trouble measuring voltages.

5t3vo,
I've got my e4400 OC'd to 3 Ghz on default voltage but even at stock speed, the temps are the same. Starting to suspect the mobo sensors.

My E4400 overclocked to 2.80 Ghz with stock voltage idles around 34C and under load at 48C. Usually never above 50C. This is about 15C difference compared to the stock HSF

With stock paste, my Freezer 7/E6600 idles in the low 30's (deg C). Temps here in San Diego have lately been in the mid 70's. Are your ambients higher than that?

Most people I have talked to have suggested to reseat the HSF w/AS5 next time I get the chance.
