Overclocking with a SuperMicro MB?

I have several PIII 1 GHz rigs. None are OCed but I'm thinking about it.

The MB that I'm using for the PIIIs is a SuperMicro 370-SSA which I bought for stability and not OCing. Now that some time has gone by OCing seems to be on my mind a little more.

The SuperMicro does not have any instructions in the users manual about any FSB changes except for dip switches to select Auto, 66, 100, or 133. It seems that I have heard in the past there were some SuperMicro MBs that could have their FSB settings changed with a little "wire work" or some other less than obvious trick. Does anyone know where I could find any information along those lines?

<< On most supermicro boards, you can go inside the bios, and under the advanced chipset settings (or somewhere else), there's a mode # (with 0 assigned by default). If you change to mode 2, the FSB will be 103. Mode 5 is FSB 133 (but no 1/4 PCI divider, only 1/3). Mode 3 and 4 are for 83 and 112 FSB (not sure the order). You probably also need the latest bios for mode 5. Good luck. >>

I just thoroughly looked all over the BIOS and found nothing like you described. There was one option &quot;System Memory Frequency&quot; that only allowed Auto, 100, or 133.

Under &quot;Main&quot; the processor &quot;type&quot; and &quot;speed&quot; were auto-detected with no option to alter.

I posted to the &quot;Motherboard&quot; forum at 2CPU.com as you suggested. No feedback yet.

I'll go snoop around the SuperMicro website.

Good luck! btw, when did you buy the mobo, and how old is the bios?
