Overclocking: W2K vs. Windows ME

Well, I seem to be able to get my PIII 700 to run stable at 1000 on Windows ME on a CUSL2-C with 256MB of Mosel PC143.

The problem is Windows 2000. It seem anything above 950 and I get errors in 3DMark like.. "file corrupted", "file not found", explorer crashing and the like.

Maybe I have not run enough tests on Windows ME to determine it will become unstable.

The question: Is Windows 2000 less forgiving to overclocking that Windows ME?
