im overclocking my e6400 to 2.8ghz. according to cpuz my vcore is running 1.28. I have voltage set to auto in the bios. I am wondering if I should force that down. If so how much? what is a good setting. Or should I leave it in auto?

if it is stable leave it. max voltage for the 65nm CPUs was like 1.5v or something, i forget exactly.

ed: yea max is 1.5v

Once it's stable at "auto" volts start adjusting downward while testing for stability. Push it down to the lowest volts you can run stable. Your temps will be better the lower you can go. Or, you can push a higher OC at the same volts and see if it's still stable.

For reference. I have an old B3 E6400 (one of the very first ones out) that runs 3.4Ghz at 1.45v and 3.2Ghz at 1.4v. Actual volts after v-droop is 1.43v and 1.38v respectively.

It has run 3.2Ghz at 1.4v since I first got it. What's that like over 2 years now? Never been an issue.
