I was reading a thread in OT about overclocking a Geforce card with Coolbits. So I decided to try it with mine, a Geforce 256. (I know, its old, but it has to do for now) Supposedly you can get up to 130 core and 180 for memory, but when I do it, the highest I can go for each is 100 mhz, which is lower than the original settings. Does anyone have a clue why this would happen? TIA! And sorry if this is the wrong forum, I just figured this would be the one to post in, since it is called video. :p

Right forum.

Is the card a DDR or an SDR? I don't use CoolBits (use nvmax). The memory slider may actually be 100mhzx2 if it's DDR. So if you set the slider to 100, it may actually be 200. So to do 180 memory you would set it for 90. This may not be right, just guessing. Actually I did use to use coolbits but it didn't go high enough so used power strip and nvmax. IIRC, The slider only went to 200 for my memory on my gf3 ti200, which would have been 400 (200x2).

As far as the core, I think the Geforce 256 was 120mhz. What det drivers are you running? Maybe the drivers are so old that that's as high as coolbits went? If you are running newer drivers, dunno.

Did that make sense on the memory?

I am running the newest or next to newest detonators, and I honestly don't know if its SDR or DDR. Ack, my lack of knowledge is showing. ;)
