Overclocking video and CPU Questions?

I am looking to buy another system to build. I am not sure if I want a AMD or Pentium Processor, or the video card. I was wanting to get info on overclocking both of these items. I was looking at an ATI 9500, because I heard you can overclock them and get them to run like a 9700, but alot cheaper. I have never overclocked anything, but am more knowledgable about PC's than most. Can anyone tell me What I would want to get to overclock. I mean what type of processor, Motherboard, Ram, and any info on overclocking video cards. I am new to this and want to get enough info to see if it is worth the risk. Thanks!!!!

for o/cing your cpu, you're going to want to get an athlon, as with a bit of effort, you can unlock it to change the multiplier...
for a good overclocking mobo (for an athlon), i see a lot of people tout the Epox 8RDA+. i don't have it myself, but that's what i hear...
with those and quality ram from someone like crucial, you should be all set

as far as making a 9500 into a 9700, don't count on it... more than likely you will destroy your card, especialyl if you' don't have a whole lot of experince making physical modifications to electronic components... the best thing to do in this case is rely on software overclocking utilites to squeez a few more frames out of the good card you've bought
