Overclocking valueRAM - do I need heatspreaders?

After seeing a post here the other day (can't remember who it was by) about the difference between value ram and top of the line stuff I figured I'd play around with some valueRAM. I plan to overclock it as far as it can go, I'm running a GA-7N400 pro2 motherboard with a barton 2500 core running @ 2ghz atm without any problems, but I want to get a lot more out of it than that. Should I worry about heat spreaders?

If you are planning on only using upwards of 2.8vdimm max, and have good air circulation inside you computer case, you do not need heatspreaders on your ram imho.

I think it has been proven at this point that heatspreaders actually serve no purpose other than asthetics.

no. heatspreaders only heat up the unused chips, while making the used chips only slightly cooler. my case has a 92mm vantec stealth mounted to the top of my ram modules(1/2 inch off top of my 2 modules. each stick holding a side of the fan. works a lot better than a heatspreader for cheaper too.
