Is it worth overclocking? Does it really improve stability...how much can it be overclocked to remain safe?

Most of us don't go any higher than 1.6v, which is .1v above the 1.5v standard.

It can improve stability, it usually depends on the motherboard and the video card being used, though.

For the most part,ie; a better OC, or more stable environment in games, a .1v will help with most cards. Radeons don't seem to like 1.7v whereas Nvidia cards do.

with all the boards i've had (ic7, p4p800, 8rda+, nf7-s, an50r) i've never noticed an increase in stability or increase in overclocking of my video card by raising the vagp.

the only way i've gotten more is by volt modding the physical card.

i volt modded my 9700pro and have gone from 342/324 before mod to 428/352 after volt mods.

but YMMV...

What risks are there when doing this? What needs to be kept cool the northbridge, videocard, or something else?

Well I bumped it bump to 1.6v and now I can do 2.3GHz stable whereas before I could not...

this is how i see it

overclocking the agp is a waste of time
upping the vagp is worth a shot if you can't seem to get an overclocked system/video card stable

Haha, I wasn't telling him that it would affect his video card's ability to overclock.:D I was just telling him that going to 1.6v on the agp bus has helped some people get a more stable processor OC, though who knows why! I personally run mine at 1.6v, since I've never heard of it hurting anything, only helping.
