Overclocking USB drive for mouse

hey guys I just heard that you can overclock your usb drive so that you can get a faster response time from your mouse. Now would leaving your usb drive overclocked like this the whole time be bad for it?

I would advise you to get an MX510, it's a very worthwhile mouse!

Edit: What's next? Overclocking your speakers? Your monitor? I wonder if anyone ever overclocked their floppy drive...

my usb drive has stopped registering as a usb 2.0

every time i insert my external hd or any jump drives, it always says this drive can perform better on a faster usb port.

would this help? i know it's not a mouse, but even removing the usb drivers and letting windows reinstall them hasn't worked.

I've heard that leaving your USB OverClocked can make it stop working with other devices, such as thumb drives and external harddrives. Never tried it, and I dont plan to. Since your screen only refreshes at around 75Hz, any mouse movement faster than that is pointless, as it will never reach your screen.

Are you sure you have USB 2.0, not USB 1.1? I wouldn't reccomend Overclocking it, but if your devices are USB2 anyway, it might not matter. But I dont know for sure...

Well it is possible, http://home.no/buddis/usb500hz.html, my friend tried it last night, and was egging me to do it too, but I just wanted to make sure that nothing happens to the USB drive itself before I do it.
