Hello fellow anandtech'ers!

I recently aquired an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (the 95W TDP-version).
The CPU now sits in an older rig with a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 motherboard (revision 2.0). And the CPU is cooled by a Cooler Master 212 EVO.

I would say that the GA-MA770-UD3 belong in the 'budget segment' of the motherboard market, and I haven't forgotten all the buzz about the overclocking misadventures with certain motherboards paired with power-hungry AMD CPUs.

Which leads me to the question: What is your in-put regarding overclocking this CPU on this motherboard? Is it a total no-no or can it be done? What about a fan added ontop of the MOSFETS/VRM?

Another question. I have a hard time finding a program which can accurately report the various temperatures in this rig. Are the sensors totally bogus or can anyone recommend a program?

That board got a 4 phase power circuitry. Maximum safe overclocks I would estimate in the 3.3-3.6Ghz range depending on how much voltage your particular Thuban chip requires. And yes, the MOSFETS/VRMs greatly benefit from the extra cooling!

With regards to temps, just use Core Temp, but do note that idle/lower load numbers are off, but heavy load numbers are more or less accurate. Keep it under 60c for best results (it's not too hard).
