Is there any way to theorize how high your volts should be when overclocking your cpu?

Uhh well basically the clockspeed/volt graph is an exponential one. after a point you get the diminishing returns and then volts start becoming useless.

So do some overclocking, get a feel for the shape of that curve on your processor, and pick the point with the best clockspeed/voltage ratio.

Or if you have good cooling just take it up to 1.55 and see how far it will get you.

There's no way to know how much voltage a CPU will need without testing it. Manufacturers actually test and bin CPUs themselves, there's no magical formula that you can use because there is a certain degree of imperfection even in these high-precision parts.
