Overclocking the Tbird questions...

Guys, do you need a motherboard that supports the "mutiplier unlocking feature" like the A7V has in order to o/c a Tbird? I assumed that if you join the L1 bridges w/ a pencil you can use ANY socket462 board?

connecting the L1 bridges will allow you to unlock the cpu ONLY with boards that support multiplier adjustments.


Just conecting L1 bridges alone will not allow you to OC the cpu,you need both L1 & a proper board to unlock them and right now only the Asus A7V & Abit KT7 will allow this.

Very wise choise getting the Abit KT7, it is an amzing board, just along as it isn't D.O.A., you should be OK, mine is very stable

krueger81 on this board told me his kt7 was doa. I've never had a DOA board except one. An abit ax5 and i've bought 15+ motherboards in the last 4 years. If abits aren't DOA they are good, but i think the a7v is better from what i've heard. I'm wondering why no one else has a socket a board with multiplier adjustments yet....

I love my A7V but the one before this one was doa. So, all mb brands are going to have flaws.

The BP_FID signals which are used for overclocking pass through the L1 bridges, thats why they need to be connected.
