Overclocking the Sempron 3400+ Rev. E

Hi People!!

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for some help/input on my new Athlon64 setup
The last mobo I owned was an MSI K7N2 Dellta ILSR with an Athlon Xp 2500+ Mobile.
It would run @2400mhz on Thermaltake air cooling...

But now for my new setup...and what a sweet deal it was : Asus K8N-E Deluxe (for just 30euro)
with a Sempron 3400+ rev. E, so all the 64bit extensions, SSE3 etc. are present (120euro).
I'm using an Enermax 460w PSU and 2x512mb Corsair 3200XLPT (2-2-2-5).

In the Athlon64 overclock guide I read that cpu speed is king.
So currently I'm running Prime95 stable @2650mhz :
Cpu fsb = 10x265mhz
Cpu volt = 1,600v
Mem fsb = 220mhz
Mem volt = 2,8v
HT multiplier = 3
Memory timings = 2,5-4-3-7-10-16-1T

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with these results!!
But I'm just wondering...with my current settings the Hypertransport bus is only 3x265=795mhz,
and the CAS latency of the memory is 2,5


For my burn-in test I had my setup @2500mhz :

Cpu fsb = 10x250mhz
Cpu volt = 1,600v
Mem fsb = 208mhz
Mem volt = 2,8v
HT multiplier = 4
Memory timings = 2-2-2-5-1T

Now this gives me a Hypertransport of 4x250=1000mhz and better memory timings which is good for
the Athlon64 I've heard.


My question is, which is the best setup??

Go for CPU speed over anything. Your CPU voltage is a bit high though, I'd try to keep it under 1.55V, 1.5V preferably.

Ok, it has become clear to me that the Hypertransport never is fully utilized. So now that the lower HTT frequency isn't an issue that only leaves me the tight memory settings...

@MDE My Sempron 3400+ isn't prime stable with 1,5v @2650mhz...gives me an error after 3-4 hours.

Does anyone think it's useful to relax the memory timings even more to CAS3 to get higher CPU mhz?? Because I don't think the chip has more in it with standard HSF.
