overclocking the geforce go in inspiron 9300

Hi,

Since the DELL nVidia driver for the Geforce 6800 Go does not have the OC option, I was wondering how you guys manage to overclock them. Is it okay to use the nvidia drivers instead of hte Dell drivers for the videocard? B/c I remember doing so before and some of the games that used to be able to run did not.

yeah, go ahead and use the forceware on nvidias site. they support the geforce "go" GPUs. as for OCing, i wouldnt recommend doing it that much. i use something called "coolbits". its a registry file and you add it to your registry, and the next time you open your properties of your nvidia card, a LOT more options will be on the tabs.

I wouldnt OC a notebook graphics card either, if you screw it up your screwed. That thing is already running at it's potential per battery/heat output.

Oh, hm....

The reason that I asked was that I had numerous people saying that Dell had underclocked the Geforce 6800 Go's on the Inspiron 9300 in order to sell more XPS.

Wow, bad rumors afloat!

I've overclocked my Quadro 1400 256MB Go quite a bit (295/600 to 380/824) and it's running quite fine.

The drivers on the nvidia page aren't for the geforce go 6800 though. When I click on supported cards the Go cards aren't on there

But what happens if you try and install them?

Go to http://www.notebookforums.com for inspiron 9300 OC info. You won't get much helpful information here but there is a wealth of knowledge there in the Dell forum.

I'm using the 81.xx drivers in my laptop right now, they're doing quite fine
