overclocking the elusive 6800gt

so, i just built this brand new great rig for christmas, and i want to tap all the potential dry. im pretty much done with the cpu/mobo/ram, but one thing remains that i think i can push farther....my evga 6800gt. ive got it at 400/1.03. if i go higher, sometimes i get 10 second long stutters, but usually no texture coruption. no good. what should i do, give it more voltage, flash to an ultra bios, what?
thanks guys,
nick

The reason it has the extra molex connector is because the Ultra requires more power. If you have your ram and GPU running at the same speed as an Ultra you would need more power as well. Chaces are your card won't boot or mabye an outside chance of blowing you psu.

no, the ultra very rarely needs the extra power provided from the 2nd molex connector. ive modded my vpu bios so that the vcore is 1.4volts, the same as an ultra, and while my temps have gone up, i can oc more now. im up to 415/1.1 and its been stable in css so far. my chip must not be great, because people are getting 430+ for the core. im damn happy though.

nah, 99.9% of 6800gts can reach ultra speeds perfectly easy.

Running 415/1100 with a BFG GF6800 OC GT.

Tried pushing higher, won't even pass the stress test. Could be the custom cooling system that BFG put in sucks. Dunno.

Don't feel like pushing higher. My $30 PSU might not be able to handle it, lol...doesn't even do 20A on the +12V, I think...

The extra molex on the Ultra doesn't feed it more power it just makes the power comming in more stable. Either way don't flash it to an Ultra if you want highier vgpu just mod your bios or get another bios with 1.4vgpu and oc using coolbits or rivera tuner.

yeah i did, but my core still wont go above 415...oh well, just unlucky i guess. damn....440/1.18? what games do you play? mine wont even pass the little coolbits test at 430...lol
