Overclocking the E6600 and cooling...

Hi

I recently got an Asus p5b deluxe mobo, a core 2 duo E6600 and I've heard that this combination allows for a lot of overclocking combinations.

My question however is how far I can overclock this cpu whilst keep it cool with the retail cooling. I also have 3 additional case fans to help..

My main concern is that I leave my pc on basically 24/7 and I'm wondering how this will effect my options.

I'm wondering whether a stable 3ghz would be possible?

If your goal is 3 ghz, it should be easily attainable w/o a vcore increase and with the use of the stock cooler.

go ahead and bump your fsb up to 333 or 334 and leave your vcore on default. boot into windows and stability test.

i'd expect your load temps to be in the 50C's which is fine.

My stock cooler that came with my E6600 was horrible... Maybe I just got a bad one, but I was idling well above 40ºC
