Overclocking the 9600 Pro

I've just bought a 9600 pro and want to know what the best utility to use to overclock it & what sort of speeds should I be pushing ?

hmmm... i personally use radclocker because it is easy to use and unobtrusive. It just adds a clock frequencies tab to the normal driver options. For RAM speeds, it really depends on the memory chips put on the card, but i've seen a lotta people hit over 400mhz core. Gotta love that .13 micron fabrication process 😉

use rivatuner, the rage3d tweaker, or the utility that comes with the omega drivers if you are using them. either one will get the job done. as far as the OC, it depends what kind of ram you have on the card. i got 2.86 ns ram so i was able to OC mine to 525/750 or something like that. what is the number on the ram?

bad news, according to this, the memory is only rated up to 200 mhz (5ns). it wont OC much at all

slight change of topic but I notice you've got the same processor as me, I'm currently running mine at the stock speed with the retail fan and heatsink, i'f I wanted to crank mine up to the same speed as yours would I need to get a new fan or both fan & heatsink & what sort of temp does yours run at ?

yeah, notice i'm using an slk800 and a smart fan II cranked all the way up. temps here in LA have consistently been over 100+ F so at idle it runs low to mid 40's even with a nice HSF. a new hsf is a good idea when ocing

my brother just got a 9600 pro...but he went cheap and got the EZ version

bah to that, i was hoping at least the core would oc (since i was damn certain the memory wouldnt)

as soon as i bumped up 10 mhz on the core i got artifacts in windows, oh well, not a bad card but he shoulda spend the extra money
