Overclocking > than running in single channel? (NM, question is moot)

Hey all. So here's my problem. I think I have an issue with running in dual channel with the memory and mobo listed in my sig. I've been running Memtest+ 4.0, and each module is fine by itself in slot 1 and 3. But if I put both of them together, I get errors in test 7 right off the bat. I haven't tried them in slots 2 and 4, but I'm guessing I get the same problem. My question is, how much of a determent is it to run in single channel, if it allows the memory to be stable for overclocking? I'm guessing it's better to have a stable overclock than to run in single channel, but just wanted to get your guys opinions.
