Overclocking seems too low for my card...

You have my specs below, but i noticed that some people were pushing their leadtek 6600gt agp up to 585/1050....for some reason, i get very noticable artifacts in 3dmark03 after 5 minutes if i go 550/1010...

I didn't know if it was my card or if my PSU could be doing it (since OCed cards use more power)

any suggestions?

the dif between 543 and 585 is, for all intents and purposes, nil. Relax and play some games.

Could always try aftermarket cooling though. How fast does the fan on that card blow? That really bites on the ram though. What are the ram chips labelled?

i dunno...i'm not gonna check, don't know how either...but yeah, i changed the molex cable (to one that looked to be better quality, as i ordered one for the card) but now i can OC it to 549/1030 and i think it might still artifact slightly, but i'm not sure if it's just the core, or both. at an OC of 560/900 i get alot of artifacts, yet at 500/1000 i dont get any, so i'm thinking i can back down the core from 549 to 546 and push the ram a bit more...

As always, and this applies to CPU's, RAM, and GPU's: NOT ALL PARTS ARE CREATED EQUAL!!! While I do think that your speeds are perhaps a tad low, it just may be that you got a bum card in terms of overclocking. It is known to happen, and it does, unfortunately. The first "off" thing that caught my eye was your power supply. At 300w, it ain't much. And even though you don't have what's considered a "power guzzler", it it a bit too low for nowadays. That would be the first thing that I would look into changing, although I'm not sure Vaios use standard ATX PSU's (somebody help out). If, in fact, you can't just get a new PSU, then look into transfering your components into another case. Besides, Vaios are pretty cramped inside (a relative has one, and its a b!tch to maneuver through ;) ). Thats also another thing to look at: are you getting enough airflow inside the case? Maybe your card is topping out because its getting too toasty. Just things to look at.

yeah, the airflow is decent. i have some tiny vents all around the case and a 120mm fan on the back...the inside is quite cool actually

i'm guessing the 300watt PSU is limiting me, which if it is, i am fine with (as i know it's not my card) but it isn't my computer, it's my families, and i really don't wanna spend money on it

it's not a problem for me, i'm fine with my OC
