Does anyone know of a good web site or two that are based on providing "average Joe" user input on overclocking results with different chips, speeds, steppings, etc..

I used to know of a couple back in the P2/P3 days but have since lost their links.

Thx...

Remember this though...I have talked to a few ppl about a lot of the same ppl who always have the top oc and I found out a lot of ppl who post the speeds there are posting speeds they have been able to boot and load windows and run maybe a quick sandra bench or whatnot, but take alot of those speeds with a grain of salt...Most are not solid stable systems....

It is basically a big jack session...like the morons here who live and die buy 3dmark scores or snadra benches....

I think you are better off looking at those but posting a thread here on comparing systems and therefore can state systems that are prime and memtest stable.....

I can post 3.4+ghz with mine at 1.68-1.7v and temps are great...load into windows and even run sissoft beches...prime95 errors rather quick though....But like most at that forum that constitutes a a good oc....

I see this thread has been unlocked... so someone else (Mod?) was obviously proving their child-like stupidity.

I saw the links in the first thread in this forum listing the 8 different categories, but through all 4 pages of the thread the word "database" did not show up and I figured someone familiar with a site keeping a overclocking database could just quickly point me to it (thx LoverBoyJ :)) instead of endless searching through the multiple links in the 8 categories.

Or was it the overclockers.com link that lead to the mods comment and initial lock, and not my question? While I have been around anandtech awhile now, I don't read every forum or every thread to know if there is any infighting between anandtech and overclockers.com. I'm now assuming there may be since that site is left out of the 8 catagories in the 1st thread to this forum. And since it seems that is what overclockers.com is based upon...it makes me wonder why they're left unmentioned.

I guess I may never know...

I agree Duvie and thanks for the comment. I do know how the "king of the hill" mentality works. But it does at least give a little insight to steppings in regards to general overclockability.

I burned out a P4 2.4 (never even checked the stepping) and Intel sent me a BO stepping as it's replacement. I've since read on these forums the last couple of days that the Bo's aren't o'cing nearly as well as other stepping, so now I somewhat feel like Intel sent me the BO on purpose to "keep little Billy from overclocking" :)

They didn't test your cpu or know you oc'd and burnt it up or they wouldn't have warrantied it.....They sent you whatever was availble in the warehouse in Kentucky....

The B0 is likley limited to noy much better then 2.8ghz to 2.9ghz if it has a pack date of later then Octoer of 2002....Sell it at ebay and get another one...

Well it didn't actually fry...but it would not run under Windows anymore....period. I get the new one, and shazaam!, it runs in Windows without a single hardware or software change whatsoever.

As far as your second sentence...my thoughts exactly...;)

Overclocking results site?
this site has some of the best "user" threads on the net. these guys arent "king of the hills" either. they run full sets of benchmarks, prime95, memtest86 and many other serious applications.

;) :D

Nice!:) How could I have ever thought to stray

Seriously though...while this is my main hangout for real tech info...it's nice to see the different s codes, mfg. week, voltage, mfg. plant, ect., results laid out in grid format over there. It certainly lends itself to some strong conclusions, even if half of them aren't honest with top speed or stability.
