Hello fellows. I have the following configuration running currently.

2500+ @ 200x11
2x512MB Corsair XMS PC3200 in dual channel mode (2-3-3-5)
Abit NF7-S 2.0 w/latest BIOS (I can't recall the version number offhand, but I just updated it a few days ago)

Right now the CPU is very cool, normally < 90F idle. Under full load conditions it rarely goes above 100F. So I became adventurous the other day and decided to push the enveolope a little bit. I followed my usual procedures for overclocking my hardware and went in very small increments. I was running at 205mhz very stable with minimal temperature increases, a degree at most. Then I upped the fsb to around 210, and everything worked great. However, then I played a little bit of UT2K3 to try and stress the processor some and exited to my desktop. Upon launching Internet Explorer, my computer restarted. I kicked everything back down to 200mhz to be on the safe side and have not since had the problem. This is plenty fast, but I did get a kick out of running at > 2300mhz. I'm trying to narrow down possible explanations for my dilemma.

- RAM timings too tight
- Voltages too low

That's what I would figure, but I thought I'd get some advice before I dabbled in these areas. Would you be lead to believe my assumptions are correct? Considering my mem is only rated for 400mhz effective, I could see how 420mhz wouldn't set too well with it. So just how far could I safely up the mem voltage?

Thanks in advance.

I would not mess with the voltage at this point, I'd loosen up those ram timings. Particuliarly if you are running in dual channel mode.

You know, dual-channel gives a nice little speed boost, but it doesn't compare to a gain in fsb & processor speed. Why not try running it in single-channel? Just pull one of your ram sticks out, and put it in the empty slot. Most people get about 20mhz or more fsb by running single-channel.

Try running 205Mhz (or more)@10.5. You should be able to get more out of the processor without changing the voltage.

What Power Supply do you have. I had a similar problem. I have a p4 running at 3.3 gigs and a Radeon 9800 pro at XT speeds and it was working ok. After like 3 weeks it would rebbot randomly. I went back to default speeds and it would still do it. I disconnected the SCSI CD-ROM and no problems so far. I have an enermax 350w ps but I am running a cheeta 15k and a Maxtor Athlas 10k, Plextor CD-ROM and CDRW SCSI and i gig od Mushkin 3200 level 2. I am wating for my enermax 430w so I can connect everything again :)
