Overclocking RAM

Hello everyone,
I bought a PC66 Kingston value ram (128 MB, IBM Chips). it is running very well at 66 MHz. I am going to change the FSB to 100 MHz, as I got the new celeron 600 (hopefully I can get 900 MHz). My question is, can I use the same RAM (only 66 MHz)...I think I cannot, but I donno what to do. I also have a PNY 100 Mhz (64 MB) RAM which runs at 66MHz now. What can I do with the old Kingston Ram? pl help me out. thanks.

A while ago, I used to overclock my generic PC66 RAM by using it to run my P233 @300 on a VIA board. Wouldn't hurt to try - just let it run.

I would first put in the PC100 only, and then try your overclock. If this is successful, then you know that you CPU will overclock. Then swap the memory to the PC66. If it will not overclock after the memory swap, then you know your PC66 will not do 100. If the PC66 makes it to 100, then put both sticks of memory in and try that. You may be able to use both of these.

thx guys. do I need to change some settings in the slots for the RAM for overclocking? or just change the FSB and the RAM will be automatically adjusted to the new speed (provided it can handle the new speed)

1. BradS' recommendations are the practical ways to go. You might also download SiSoft Sandra and check under "Mainboard Information" for specs on your RAM modules.

2. Depending on your motherboard, and assuming your BIOS' CAS/RAS settings are all @ 3, you probably won't have to change any settings with respect to tho RAM when you set your FSB to 100 MHz or whatever.

Well, that might depend upon your motherboard. But most motherboards will run the memory at the same frequency as the CPU. You may have to adjust your memory timing settings in your bios, if you are going to push the PC66.
