Overclocking ram... risky?

I have a 2500+ and corsair stick of 2700 512mb. I want to get the 2500+ to 3200+ by upping the frequency from 166 to 200. If my ram can't handle that speed, and I boot at 200 can it damage the ram permanently?

And also, how much performance difference am I looking at by upping the FSB to 200 instead of changing the multiplier to get 3200+ speeds? Thanks.

no real risk. the ram will do what it can.

if you overclock ram beyond it's limits you might see lock ups.

BTw, i have an Epox 8RDA+ board... does it automatically replace ratios for pci/agp if I turn the FSB to 200?

The difference between upping the FSB to get to 2.2 and the multiplier is noticeable. Take the RAM as far as it'll go, and then use the multiplier if needed.

There are no ratios, nForce2 locks them automatically.
