Overclocking Radeon 9800 Pro

I got my Athlon XP mobile 2600+ to about 2.5Ghz (217x11.5), and now I'm thinking about overclocking my radeon 9800 pro, but I'm not sure how much it can be safely overclocked with the stock cooling. Is it ok to keep increasing the core/memory speeds until you experience artifacts in 3d games/3dmark? Does overclocking shorten the life of the video card at all?

Sure.... I OCed mine to 407/361 with stock cooling... it could probably go a bit higher but Im waiting till I get better cooling.

Get a VGA Silencer. They are only 20 bucks.

Would that allow for higher overclocking with significant performance improvement, or would it just be quieter?
