Overclocking Radeon 9800 pro 256mb

I heard it was pretty easy to overclock this card up to the Radeon 9800 xt.
But the thing is...I am afraid to.
I paid over 200 dollars to get this and don't want to ruin it.
I had the core clocked to the speed of the xt and instinct told me to touch the heatsink.
I think it was a lot hotter than it should have been so I clocked it back to normal

Do i need a new heatsink to do this?
Is this increase in heat ok?
Is there a way i can find the temp of my gpu?
What temp must i stay under?

Don't overclock unless you have a need to, you void your warranty and cause harm to the components. Typically your graphics card should be fine at XT speeds with stock cooling. I advise you not to touch the components of your graphics card, your finger could short something.

Temp monitor is only available for 9800XT. If your card is flashmoddable (body of 9800XT), then it should have temp monitor enabled after a flash to 9800XT. Again this will void your warranty.
