Hi-

I got a 1.2GHz AMD 266FSB running very stable at 1.33GHz. I have it at 10x133. My question is, should I perhaps drop this to 8x160 or something? I have read that a bigger bus is preferable. Any help?

try it out...160 is a lot better than 133 but your PCI & AGP cards prob wont be able to handle it...depends on what you have...

Well, I have a GeForce2 GTS 32MB card for my AGP slot, and SB Live! for my Sound (as well as a Ethernet card)

The best way to see if your system can handle it would be to try it. If your system can't handle it, you'll know. It either won't post, or it will be unstable. If it won't post, then reset the BIOS via a jumper on your mobo.

Running on a higher overclocked bus will give you more overall performance especially in 3D FPS games because of the wider path that data can travel in and out. When using bus speeds of 160 and above, be a bit careful since I know quite a lot of people who have burned out their NIC's in the process.

I just got a Linksys NIC card that I picked up for $5 at Bestbuy. Probably not the best to handle this. However from this post, I can take it that I should drop down to 9/9.5 or so, and up the FSB for better perfomance and see what I can get it to run stable at. Thanks a lot guys!
