Overclocking question re: fsb speeds

System specs:

Asus A7N8X non-deluxe
Barton 2500+
Thermalright AX-7 w/80mm
2*256MB Crucial PC2700

with this system, i can easily reach -

185FSB * 12.5 = 2312Mhz

or

200FSB * 11 = 2200Mhz

now, if i try anything i between those settings, i can't get a boot up at all. so, for example, if i try 190FSB * 12 = 2280, that won't work. why is that? the speed isn't too much. the fsb isn't too much. the multi isn't too much. i've even tried this setting and many others at a higher vcore and ddr voltage with no luck. are there such things as sweet spots with regard to fsb and multipliers? that seems so odd...

anyway, if you al could shed some light or help me improve my results, i'd love you forever.

...

well, probably not, bt i'd appreciate it. 😉

I would suspect you're getting stuff like PCI and AGP speeds way out of spec when your FSB is between those 2

Oh. I don't know, sorry.

It does lock the AGP/PCI so he is fine.

Tetsuo316: Run some benchmarks and see what configuration runs your applications best! Personally I would settle with the 400FSB option simply because my computer would then read "Athlon XP 3200+" to who ever was looking around. 😀
