Overclocking Q6600 on stock cooler, madness?

Just wondering if anyone has ever overclocked a Q6600 on the stock cooler (full-height, copper core). Or if I'm pushing it, just using the stock cooler at stock speeds.

(Yes, I bought 11 OCZ Vendettas, but I was lazy, and didn't feel like installing one of the Vendettas. I guess I should have, the messy wiring in my case is going to interfere with the stock fan, I just know it.)

Then again, this is a server build, so I don't think I really want to overclock it, either.

I have the dual core version, E6600, and it only goes up to about 2800MHz before heat becomes a bit of an issue. I wouldn't expect a Q6600 to do much better on stock cooling.

This. Is. Sparta!
Seriously though, you probably wouldn't get too far with a Q6600. Not a huge problem for dual-cores though - have a couple of E4300 and E6400 systems OCed to 3-3.2GHz for the last 2 years without issues.

Q6600?

We talking B3's or G0's?

Yes it makes a difference...

B3's can get hotter then the sun if you ramp the vcore up.

It's a G0 stepping, SLACR. I think I'll try for 3.0Ghz (333x9), without any vcore adjustments, and see how it does. If it doesn't get above 80C, then I'll keep it, otherwise, I'll clock it back down to stock. Don't really even need it overclocked, it's for a WHS build, but what the heck, I'm an addict. :p
