I can't seem to overclock the FSB past 137, if i do it becomes unstable. does any one have an idea why?
Core voltage of cpu is set to 1.85v, and ram is at 2.65v.

My system setup:
PC Power & Cooling 400W Silencer
AMD Athlon XP 1900+
Alpha 8045 Heatsink
Crucial 2x256MB PC2100
Abit KR7A-Raid
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200
Creative SB Audigy Platinum
IBM 60GXP HD
Linksys LNE100TX
Teac 24x CDRW
LiteOn 16X DVDROM
Windows XP Pro

Too see if it's a CPU problem or memory problem have you tried lowering the mulitplier down on the CPU giving it a lower MHz but upping the FSB would bring it back to original MHz?

I doubt his XP cpu is unlocked.

Try increasing your RAM voltage to 2.85v. Don't worry, it's safe. Make sure your ratio is set to 4:2:1 and not 3:2:1 I did that myself my first time and couldn't get very high FSB because my PCI and video card were running out of spec.

Hope this helps.

Try O/cing w/ just the CPU, RAM & VGA card. C if u could reach higher than 137 FSB. If u did, then start putting those PCI components back one by one. I think one of those PCI components is holding u back.

DDR RAM voltage of 2.6v is enough for a little FSB O/Cing. Mine 2.6v voltage run at 142 FSB now stable.

Post back results.

I was a bit surprised that my XP1600 seems unstable if core voltage is over 1.8V (AGKGA stepping). I suggest you back off on VCore, work on other settings and try upping VCore only after other parameters are tweaked.

I'm stuck game-stable at 148MHz FSB with cpu core @ 1.775V, DDR voltage @ 2.65 and I/O voltage @ 3.5V. I expected better from the KR7A, but there it is.

DDRam is Corsair XMS2400. DRam timings are maxed except 2T command rate.

Hope this helps!

Hey Dunkster care to PM me about what you think of your Corsair 2400. I just got a stick and would like an opinion on it.

I don't really know if the Corsair XMS2400 is the problem that limits my overclocking, but I doubt it. I maxed all dram timings except 2T command rate. Sandra memory scores are about 1000/1000 with the old Sandra version at 148MHz FSB.

There was a post on amdmb.com reporting better FSB-overclocking by replacing Corsair XMS2400 with premium DDRAM from OCZ, on Abit KR7A/RAID board, indicating possible board/BIOS-compatability problems with Corsair XMS2400. I haven't tried later BIOS revisions.

I think my limit is this cpu. This cpu is unstable with VCore over 1.8V. I think the the Corsair XMS2400 is good stuff.

I don't plan on spending any more money on DDRAM, when replacing the cpu probably has greater overall cost/benefit ratio.

Hope this helps!
