Specs:

AMD A64 3000 Venice core
MSI K8N NEO2 PLAT.
OCZ 520W PSU
OCZ 2x512 VX GOLD PC3200

The problem I am having is this:

I started overclocking my cpu, I decreased the HT from 4x to 3x, lowered my ram divider from 200mhz to 100mhz and proceeded to increase my htt. (I got up to 290x9=~2556 mhz) and I found that it was stable running prime95 for about half an hour. I liked these results and decided to stop at this point.

Next I began to try to overclock my ram by doing the following. I left the ht at 3x, raised my divider back to 200mhz and started increasing my htt, by 5 until I reached 224. This is the highest htt i could reach and run memtest without failures.

Realizing the above I decided to use various memory dividers to try to maximize my overclock, but for some reason anytime that I would use 166 (and try to get htt higher than ~250) or use 133 (and try to get htt higher than ~270) I would not be able to post. My ram has to run under ~180mhz even though it is ocz vx gold. I have posted on other forums with this and had no useful help offered. The only thing I was told was my motherboard was crap.

I should add that my mobo has been flashed to 1.8 (best from what ive read) and I am using a CALIBRATED ddr booster (pushing 3.2v without any ram cooling)

Basically I need information on one of 2 things. 1. Is there anything I can do to get my ram to run a little better and be able to get a better overclock.

and

2. If the above is not possible which of the following 2 settings would you guys recommend me to use:

a) 270htt x 9 = ~2450 [133 ram divider]

or

b) 290htt x 9 = ~2556 [100 ram divider]

I am currently using A.

Thanks in advance.

In general I think you get a lot more bang out of +100 mhz CPU clock than running the ram faster. I like 250 mhz HT speed, since it lets you run the ram and HT link speed at or near spec. Why not try 250 x 10?

I say forget the ram and keep bumpin up that CPU clock :O People usually get the Venice 3000+ for the sole purpose of pushing it to 3500+/3700+ speeds. Just push your OC higher and leave the RAM alone :O

On the A8N-E I played around with the memory timings for a while
2 X 512 OCZ PC4000 (2.5 4 4 9) Platinum
Anyway I set my 3000+ at 300 X 9 - 1.5v stock fan (stable at this speed) and HT at 3
Ram speed at 333 (166) 2.8V
2.5 4 4 8 9 16 3 3 1T settings
Mem speed = 246.46 or close to that.
This is the best speed I can squeeze out of my RAM

This is how I am running right now and all stable and well.
