i have a p4c800 Deluxe running a 3.0c at 3.5 right now (233FSB)
and 2x 512mb corsair xms ddr400....but i'm running a 5:4 divider so its only running at 384Mhz....if i push the fsb to 250 (which would run the ram at 400Mhz), the system will post but is not stable.
Vcore is 1.63 in the bios
Vdimm is set to auto (on a side note, whats safe max voltage for memory)

i thought this OC was ok, but reading around it seems a little low...anyone else have experience with these components?

i'm still using the intel stock HS...any recs for something more powerful?

Thanks a lot,
Vivan

Well, I wouldn't push your vcore any higher, but you should definitely try upping the vdimm (ram voltage) to 2.7 or 2.8, which is still safe for them. Alot of memories need higher voltage, even to run at their "stated" speed, when being run in dual-channel mode. As far as heatsinks, if you've got the money, most people are using one of two. If they want quiet, they are using the Zalman 7000CU or 7000Al-CU. If they just want maximum cooling, most are buying the Thermalright 947-U. Both are available at newegg. The good thing about the Thermalright, in my opinion, is that you get to pick your own fan. Oh, and it will hold up to a 92mm fan, also.

thanks a bunch....my ram runs perfectly at stock vdimm at 400mhz with tightest timings so hopefully i should be able to push it a little further after the voltage bump....

Well, have you considered that maybe your power supply is out of juice? We get alot of newbies trying to OC with a psu that isn't up to snuff. (Yeah, I'm from Texas) You're definitely running quite a few power-hungry items in that box. Just 7x80mm fans use quite a bit of your 12v amperage. What is your 12v rail running, while using 100% proc. power?

i'll admit i'm a bit of a newbie at OCing....i was always happy with just a bit before...at college my pride is at stake etc etc...so i need everything i can get :p

while rendering a scene in POV raytracer, at 100% usage voltages are 12.038, 5.107, 3.376

its a 480watt thermaltake psu....

on another note, i lowered the vcore to the auto setting, still at a 233 fsb, and its been stable through 4 hours of the Sandra burn in test.... vcore is at 1.536 in asus probe (which i know to be a little inaccurate) and 1.6 in the bios....

whats the highest you've heard a 3.0c getting on stock air?

right now (at 3.5ghz) my Asus Probe temps are CPU: 91F idle 110 Load, Northbridge: 77 idle, 84 load
