I ordered one of these 3400+ and a 3300+ which are supposed to be Newcastle (though someone reported recieving a Clawhammer, crossing fingers!).

What should I be able to expect from one of these chips at stock voltage? Do they run CnQ? And what could I expect at a higher voltage like 1.675?

Here is the data on the chip:

Processor AMD Athlon? 64
Model 3400+
Ordering P/N (Tray) ADA3400AEP5AR
Ordering P/N (PIB) ADA3400BOX
Operating Mode 32/64
Stepping CG
Frequency 2200Mhz
HT Speed 1600
Voltage 1.50V
Max Temp 70°C
Thermal Power 89W
L1 Cache 128KB
L2 Cache 1MB
CMOS Technology 130nm SOI
Socket Socket 754

About 2.5ghz if you have good cooling. I had a 3400+ Newcastle that would do about 2.55ghz. May need a slight bump in voltage. But these chips DO heat up fast with each increase in voltage and they do NOT respond very well to voltage either. I would NOT go past 1.55v with it on air.

And clock for clock, how would it compare to my Venice clocked exactly the same at 2.4GHz with the same cache? Is there actually a difference with both being on the same s754 platform?

A better buy is the A64 3000 754 E6 core. Easy 2.5. I have two that will run stable at 2.7 with 1.52Vcore. About 53C core @ 25C ambient with Zalman 7700Cu at 970 rpm.

I have one of those. However, this one was bought for $49, which is low enough for me to buy it even without a home for it yet. This one actually ended up being a Clawhammer model with 1MB of cache. I haven't tried OCing yet.

Also, I got a second chip for $39 which is now $29 which is a 3300+ Newcastle, 2.4GHz with 256MB and another person reported hitting 2.6 with it. I'll be playing with these a little tonight and more tomorrow and over the weekend.

EDIT: It looks like in the original post, I actually posted the specs for the 3400+ Clawhammer, which is what I ended up recieving.

And these are all at Tiger Direct with rebate.

For reference, this chip is stable at 2530 and for some reason will only OC with its default multiplier properly. This is with not a great fan, and it maxes out on the heat at 52-54 in a warm room. Stock voltage.
