I've been working on overclocking my p4 3.06 533fsb for a few days now. Right now its running at 3.4 idling at like 41-43 deg c. This is with the stock heatsink and fan. Im considering a water cooling kit if it will help bring down temps and let me oc even more. Need sugestions on where to go next or what water kit to purchase.

About WC kits I don't whats selling near you, but with that cpu you won't go much highier...
The 3.06 is on the limit of it series. What's the temp in idle/full ???

These 3.06 chips overclock nicely. Here is my partial screenshot and this timeframe includes me finishing Doom3.

Cool and fast

I do have an Alpha8942 on it with a 68cfm fan with a thin layer of AS3 in between. Also the case has the side off.

According to overclockers.com the average overclock for this particular chip is 3608 Mhz and I have no reason to doubt that. I have not even tried my 3.06 at higher than 3.45.. it is stable at this speed and I have a processor that is faster than anything Intel has on the market right now. I will start upping the voltage and speed when I feel like it's needed but seriously, it's gotten me thru Doom3 and I can re-encode a DVD file in roughly the same time as it takes to burn it. Lovin it. ;)

Crazyfool, they actually do have a 3.6GHz LGA775 Prescott out now.

It all depends on what you see as "nicely".

A 17% overclock on a P4 is absolutely normal. I would even say under normal ;)

Ah, come one.
I don't like Prescott's but a 3.4 one would drive around yours @3.450 just with the much higher FSB. ;)

But your system is fast, nonethless... ;)
