Overclocking P4 2.8E, need advice

A couple questions for the experts:

- I've got a P4 2.8E that I've clocked up to 3.5Ghz, but to do that I have to feed it 1.6 volts. Temps peak at 70 deg. with stock HSF. Is that dangerous? What temp/voltage is safe?

- I'm buying 1GB RAM for the board (Gigabyte GA-8KNXP). Is it worth it to buy PC4000 RAM and clock it at 500Mhz, or is the difference with PC3200 pretty minor?

Any help is appreciated.

That vcore is way too high for a prescott.along with the temp. I would suggest first you invest in better cooling, like Xp-90 with a good 92mm fan. You don't want to exceed 1.525 for everyday use. I would recommend you get OCZ PC-4000 Gold. That way you can run 1:1 which will perform much better.

Yeah the best I can do at 1.525 is 242Mhz, which isn't bad. If I decided to be content with that, there's plenty of RAM that will do 1:1. Maybe that's just what I should shoot for with this system.

I would agree 242 is a respectable overclock. I still say with better cooling you could further.
