Hi
I have a question regarding voltages for the CPU when overclocking. I know that Abit boards tend to undersupply the voltage to the CPU. Does the voltage contribute to "destroying" the CPU or the actual heat that results from the increased voltage in the first place? or a combination of both? Because if its heat then wouldnt 2.6ghz@1.47V last just as long 3.0ghz@1.55 as long as their thermal temperatures where the same?
Here is the deal,
My p4 2.6C runs when set as Default CPU voltage (effective) in BIOS as 1.472 (actual) in CPU-Z
Currently running @3.055ghz (234/186) @ 1.550 BIOS (effective) but 1.488V in CPU-Z (actual)
I 've ran mine at 3.25ghz already but at 1.600V (effective) in BIOS and 1.578V (actual)
The question is I can probably go even higher but I will have to increase the voltage more. So here is where I need help...I was thinking of buying Zalman CNP-7000Cu so I could run at 3.25+ but at like 1.600V (actual NOT effective)
But if increased voltage regardless of heat also ruins the CPU then whats a safe sealing from the 1.47V (actual) for me (1.525 effective when set as default)?
Thank you
Sorry for the long message
