My system: Asus p4p800, 2 x 256mb kingston 3500 hyperx, p2.4c, Audigy 2 oem, Seagate iv 80gb, viewsonic 95f+, monsoon mh 205 speakers, Radeon 9700pro oem(at default speeds), antec sonota case.

I locked the AGP at 66/33, fbs at 250 at 5/4 memory. timings at 2-3-3-8, my cpu showed at 3000 cycles. Prime 95 ran well. I ran 3dmark 2001 se, scored 15825 - my previous high not overclocked was 15,200. I played nfshp2 and had a funny slow down when I changed cars and it felt like I was driving slow when at high speeds, but rebooted the game and all worked well. I then set the 9700 pro at 351/351 and scored 5250 on 3dmark 2003, previous high not overclocked was 4800.
cpu temp 47 load and 30 idle, mb temp 30, but I do not place much stock in the accuracy of the asus probe. I had q fan on, so none of my fans were running at full speed.

I want to get a zalman hsf and heatpipe for the video card and then overclock on a regular basis - as nsfhp2 did run better.

my questions are - do the results on 3dmark seem reasonable.
Was the slow down on nfshp2 oc related?
Are my settings ok.
Should I be running any other stability tests (ie memory)?
Anything else I should know, before I burn out my system?

your overclocked 2k1 scores seem a little low. Your problem in nfshp2 might be heat related. Your ram should run at that speed easily but if you want to make sure you can un memtest.

thanks, 2001 se was taken with only the cpu overclocked, not the video card. I think I score a little low in it in general, not sure why. I agree heat may be a problem - so I will get a zalman cnps 7000 hsf - so I can get better cooling without the noise.
