I was looking at buying a new computer and the X800 XL looks like a good choice, and since it is based with 16 pipes all the specs make it seem just like a lower clocked X800 XT. Would it be possible to OC it to perform at XT speeds?

The x800xL has not had much success with overclocking. I don't even think that volt modding it has done much to help it. If you want to mod a card to XT speeds try finding an older x800pro vivo for that. I don't suggest it though and besides, the x800xl can handle any game you throw at it.

Mine's at 430/530 (AGP) and it gave me a nice 10% bump in my 3Dmark05 score to 4830. And thats just with a XP3200+ with a gig of PC2700 RAM. May not be a great overclocker, but still a very worthwhile card. With a 64bit processor on a new machine it would be quite fast (especially for the price).
