Overclocking on DFI UT NF3 250...

I currently have a 2800+ and an Abit KV8 Pro. I have had heard nothing but good things about the DFI board, and have really been concidering upgrading. The biggest thing is the ram voltages. First off, is the new BIOS out that suppots 3.3v? Can anyone guess how high my BH-5 coudl reach at 2-2-2-5 with 3.1/3.3v? Also, currently my chip (2800+) seems to top out at 2.25 no matter what I do. I cant get anything stable over 250x9, or 285x8 on my KV8 Pro. Think 2.2 is a chip limitation or a board limitation? I have see alot of people get 2.4 out of the 2800+. The other thing is how do the sata channels hold up over overclocking? I have 2x160GB Maxtor SATA in Raid0, and a 200GB WS SATA backup drive. I am looking into this board purley from an overclocking standpoint. I am 100% stable now at 245x9 (2.2) with mem at 204fsb 2-2-2-5. This seems to be my max stable 24-hour prime overclock. Think I will be able to do better on this board?

You might want to stay away from the Nforces with >2 SATA drives. The first 2 channels on pretty much every board are seriously screwed up when OCing.

First off, you will need to tweak your 3.3 volt rail if you want 3.3 vdimm. I have read that most memory won't respond to voltages above 2.8, although mine does well with 2.9 but not any better with 3.0. Make sure you use sata ports 3&4 when overclocking with the DFI.

I don't know if you will get a better overclockwith the DFI, but I will say I got 100 MHz more when I switched from the Epox to DFI.

Which are 3 and 4? Are those the gay ones by the AGP slot? Also, as far as the high voltages making a difference, I Know they will. With BH-5 the more volts the better.

Ports 3 and 4 are between the AGP and proc. This board also has a few beta BIOS revisions which will allow for I think up to 4.0 VDimm, though you'll need to do some modding to the rail, as stated previously, to achieve that. You should be able to find it on the forums at dfi-street.com if you're curious.

I appriciate the responces, btu I didnt go with the board. One thing lead to another and before I knew it my 2800+ and KV8 Pro were sold and I now have a 3200+, Neo2, and DDR Booster on order. Time to my system cry, I wont stop until I am at 2.5ghz.

Good luck with the new setup. If you run into troubles, there's more than enough threads about that particular board on here that may help you out. Here's hoping you get to 2.5.
