Overclocking on a EVGA 590sli mobo with a am2 x2 5400+

Ok wow this overclocks different then my asrock mobos. I set the ht clock to 229 to bring up the cpu to 3.2ghz from the 200 setting saved restarted and the ram was set at 912mhz and its 800mhz ram. I quickly restarted and set the clock back. Is there a setting to unbridge the two like in the asrock mobos? Any overclocking guides or tips? I have a amd x2 6000+ on its way from newegg so I want to know how to toy with this before it gets here so I don't nuke a new cpu. My x2 4200+ 939 would clock up to 230 stable I'm sure it had plenty of room to go after that I still ran the same temps overclocked as I did stock. around 32-35c under load. Antech 900s are nice with a Zalman 9700.
