I plan to buy a new computer 6 months after the next windows come out. In the mean time I am considering installing a new CPU on a 3.5 year old machine.
I have 1.6 Intel GHZ running currently at 2.4 GHZ. The Asus motherboard is capable of 200 FSB how do the 133 FSB Intel 478 sockets overclock?

I wouldn't recomend going to a 533mhz FSB P4 if you are doing an upgrade. They will probably overclock decently, but you'll still be lacking hyperthreading, unless you get a 3.06ghz. If you got a 2.4 you might get to 3ghz, a 2.8 might even make it as high as 3.4-3.5ghz My 3.06 ran nicely at 3.45ghz, and was actualy faster than my prescott @3.82ghz in a lot of applications. They are hard to come by now, since socket 478 was discontinued. Gotta love those 1.6's though, I have had 3 of them, and they all hit 2.4 with ease, my mobile 1.6 even hit 2.7ghz..
