overclocking old Radeon 9700 Pro

i need to squeeze some more performance out of my rig until i can afford to upgrade later this winter.

can i get a great aftermarket cooling solution for the card, and then overclock it ? what kind of numbers should i be looking at..i.e, what are the limit temperatures for stability, what AGP voltage do i need to set in BIOS if any, what kind of core/memory speeds can i achieve with good cooling? (and what are some good cooling rigs that fit this card)

get a vf700, so you can put it on your new card as well. just use ATItool for overclocking.

VGA silencer 3 revision 3. I got one for $15 in the fs/t forums yesterday. Fits Geforce3, and 9500,9550,9600,9700&9800pro128mb models.

With aftermarekt cooling maybe 375/330. Temps, I don't know. don't mess with agp voltage no performance gained from it.

IF you want to use it for online gaming I would Turn res up to max and all the other eye candy and lag the He-ll out of it . You might get a surprize.

Was just looking around for coolers for my old Radeon 9700 Pro.
VF700 seems good for silence, but not so good for overclocking.
Thermalright V-1 is worth checking out, only the memory heatsink incompatibility is holding me back for the moment. I heard they would do an Ultra version of it for nVidia Ultra cards to fix that, hope it works for Radeon 9700 Pro with memsinks!

Personally I wouldn't use the ATiTool.
(It amost fried my card.... If you use it MAKE SURE YOUR SCREENSAVER IS OFF)

There's enough Demo's around to LOOP overnite to see if actifacts show.

I currently have a NorthPole on my GPU.
But, a lapped crystal orb did the same job. (cheaper)
