I have overclocked my Asus Extreme mbb with 4770K to 4.6 & 4.8 GHz. However the overclock is not shown in the Windows OS (7 64 bit). When I restart or turn off my PC and go into the BIOS the overclok is saved.

When I run variuos utilities such as CPUz and increase my CPU load to 100% the max it goes to is 3.8GHz.

I assume you still got a TDP limit set in BIOS, or current limit. You need to raise that.

Windows won't show your overclock speed. CPU-Z should show your max speed at Idle, not under load..

Clearly, incorrect.

Edit: Are you talking about the current Mhz, or the max multi? I haven't used the newest CPU-Z on a "K" CPU, so it's possible that it might show a max multi that is higher with one or zero cores loaded, as opposed to all cores loaded.

Maybe that's what you meant, Burpo? If so, then I apologize for my interjection.

cpu-z will show your current GHz dynamicly and will change with load

but what is fixed is your multi range in cpu-z so you can see your overclock not under load that way

i.e mine show 8-44 multi

yes, if your OC but CPU-Z only shows (8-38)and under load is 38 only .
Try reflash bios

Windows shows 2.13 ghz on my Xeon L5639, CPU-Z shows up to 4.2 ghz when running passmark. I see the 20X multiplier not 18 unless there's more load.

Windows always shows 2.13..

I had the same problem. You must disable Intel SpeedStep, C1,C2?, and C6 states. Since I've done this my i5 2500K is reported at 4.5GHz in CpuZ even at 0% load.
