Hey all,
Im about to buy a new system, and am definately going for the nForce chipset. I need some advice on overclocking, what RAM is best, and which Mobo is best. Im kind of a beginner to overclocking, and am unsure as to how i'd go about it. I dont need to boost my CPU speed all that much, but i really want to get the most out of my RAM and increase its speed (audio work is very RAM dependant)
For my applications (audio mostly), I need to ensure that my RAM is as fast as possible and not bandwidth limited. Can i tweak it so that my RAM is running as fast as possible? And if so, what RAM should i be using (what is the most tweakable?). Im going to use 2x256 MB sticks. Which board would be best for acheiving a high data rate - ASUS or Abit? It seems to me that the ASUS board is the best for overclocking, but im only after a mild improvement (specifically in the RAM department).
I am also going for a higher end XP processor - and wondered how far i can take each with complete stability?
Also, can anyone comment on the quality of Kingmax RAM compared to crucial or corsair?
So there it is - my main dilema is whether I should go and get good PC2700 RAM, or if it is worth it to just stick with PC2100 (ie does the nForce platform make use of the PC2700 compared to PC2100?). And what Mobo is best to get the most out of the RAM?
Any help would be appreciated - its so hard wading through all the info out there, im getting kind of lost.
